The episode, word for word

Hey, welcome back to Our Best T1D Year! I'm Neil Greathouse, and if you've got 5 minutes, you've got time for this podcast, whether you're making coffee, debating whether March flew by too fast, or realizing that we just wrapped up an entire month of tracking and actually learned something.

So what's next? March was about paying attention to what we eat, tracking patterns, and unlocking some major diabetes secrets. And now? It's time to start moving.

April's challenge is all about walking, because one of the easiest ways to improve blood sugars is literally just... taking more steps.

Here's what's crazy: by just writing things down in March, we uncovered clues about what affects our blood sugar.

But what happens when we actually put those insights into action? That's what April is all about, using movement to work with our insulin instead of feeling like we're constantly reacting.

Tracking showed us when we struggle with insulin resistance. Now, we're going to test how walking can actually lower those numbers. It's one of the easiest habits to start, but one of the most powerful.

If there were a cheat code for diabetes management, walking would be it.

Walking increases insulin sensitivity. A 10- to 15-minute walk after a meal can significantly reduce blood sugar spikes. It helps lower insulin resistance, which means our insulin works better with less effort.

Walking smooths out the rollercoaster. No more random post-meal highs that linger for hours. A simple walk can help prevent blood sugar from staying stubbornly high.

And the best part? It's EASY to start. No equipment. No gym. Just step outside and go. Even short walks make a difference.

This next month, we're going to experiment with adding more steps to our day, nothing extreme, just small, sustainable wins.

How much walking makes a difference? Is there an ideal time to walk? How do we fit it into a busy schedule?

We'll be answering all of those, and, of course, making it fun.

I've partnered with Risely Health to give away a free One Sheet Journal, because I know how powerful tracking can be, and this tool makes it simple.
