The episode, word for word

Hey, welcome back to Our Best T1D Year! I'm Neil Greathouse, and if you've got 5 minutes, you've got time for this podcast, whether you're making coffee, tying up loose ends for the week, or realizing that this entire tracking challenge has felt a little like an adventure straight out of The Goonies.

Think about it, we started this month with zero map, a whole lot of guesswork, and no idea what we were going to find. But as we kept going, the clues started adding up, the pieces started making sense, and suddenly... we weren't just wandering through the caves of diabetes confusion anymore.

Today, we're wrapping up the March challenge with the final clue, the biggest takeaway from all of this.

Because this was never just about writing numbers down, it was about learning how to read the map of our own diabetes.

Let's be honest, we didn't always love tracking.

It got annoying at times. We forgot some days. We maybe even considered bailing entirely (like Chunk trying to escape the Fratellis).

But here's what actually happened:

We found the patterns that were hiding in plain sight. We figured out what's actually influencing our blood sugar, not just what we assumed. We built instincts that will stick with us long after this challenge ends.

And those instincts? That's the real treasure.

Now that we've got the map, how do we make sure we don't lose it?

Step 1: Keep the Big Wins in Mind If we know a pattern now, we can use it, even without tracking. We don't need to write everything down to remember what works.

Step 2: Track Only When We Need a Reset If blood sugars start feeling random again, track for a few days. It's like pulling out the treasure map when we need a refresher.

Step 3: Trust That We're Way More Equipped Than Before We're not just guessing anymore. We're walking away knowing how to make better decisions with diabetes.

This whole month was about learning.

It wasn't about being perfect. It wasn't about logging every detail forever.

It was about paying attention, because the more we understand our numbers, the less power they have over us.

So if you're walking away from this feeling even a little more confident, that means you've won the challenge.

Because we're not doing a bad job, we're doing a difficult job. And now? We've got way more tools to handle it.

I've partnered with Risely Health to give away a free One Sheet Journal, because I know how powerful tracking can be, and this tool makes it simple.
