You Made It to the End, and the Beginning

You showed up. You pre-bolused. You experimented. And the results? They speak for themselves. This episode is a celebration of the real-life wins we saw in June, and a look ahead to what’s coming in July. Today, We’re Covering: Community...

The episode, word for word

Alright, before we go any further, if you've been tracking along with this pre-bolus challenge all month, I just want to say one thing: thank you.

You did it.

Some of you even messaged me to say things like,

"I never knew insulin could work this well when I just gave it a 15-minute head start."

Or,

"This is the first time I've seen a flat line after pasta night."

Or my personal favorite,

"My partner cooked dinner and waited for me to pre-bolus before we ate. That's never happened before."

Hey, I'm Neil. I was diagnosed during flight training in the Air Force in 1992, and I host this podcast because honestly? Living with type 1 diabetes is not something we were meant to do alone. And especially not when we're trying to unlearn years of reactive blood sugar habits.

I've got a brand new book over on Amazon called Type 1 Diabetes: True Stories and you should go buy it and give it to all your friends as July 4th presents. Because - it's what our founding fathers would've wanted you to do.

This whole month has been about timing. And timing, as you've seen, can change everything.

Let me just name a few more wins I've heard from you this month:

"I stopped waiting for my CGM arrow to go up before correcting, just pre-bolused and ate on time. My post-meal spikes are 80% better."

"I didn't know I wasn't pre-bolusing. I thought I was. Turns out, 5 minutes isn't enough for my insulin. Now I know."

"I finally had the confidence to delay my lunch at work by 10 minutes so my insulin could kick in. And I didn't crash. I felt like I won."

Let me tell you something:

This podcast doesn't work without you.

Your stories, your wins, your weird little hacks, those are the real heartbeat of Your Best T1D Year.

Now, as we wrap June, I want to give you a preview of what's coming.

July's challenge is a big one: Understanding Insulin Stacking + Correction Strategy.

We're going to unpack:

How to know when you're stacking insulin (even when it doesn't feel like it)

How to space your corrections without overdoing it

How to read your CGM like it's a strategy guide, not a guilt trip

We'll talk timing. We'll talk patterns. We'll talk about that moment when you think, "Should I dose now or wait?" and how to make that decision without panic.

We're building something here.

Not just better blood sugar days, but a life that feels less alone.

And to every single one of you who messaged, listened, or pre-bolused in a crowded restaurant this month, I see you.

This is your win.

And July? We're just getting started.

New podcast episodes come out every Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

You ever feel like managing T1D is hard enough, but getting care is a second full-time job? That's why Blue Circle Health exists. Because most people with type 1 are fighting two battles, one against the disease, and one against the healthcare system. BCH was built to solve that second part. They've created a free, virtual care program with real endocrinologists, diabetes educators, and social workers who get it. They're helping people who've been told 'no' for years finally get CGMs, insulin, support, and actual progress. This isn't charity. This is leadership. Learn more or sign up for free at bluecirclehealth.org.

See you in the next episode.

This is the script as read on the mic, lightly tidied for reading. Education, not medical advice. Talk to your care team before you change anything about your insulin.
