The episode, word for word

Hey, welcome back to Our Best T1D Year! I'm Neil Greathouse, and if you've got 5 minutes, you've got time for this podcast, whether you're making coffee, scrolling social media, or watching your March Madness bracket slowly self-destruct.

Unless, of course, you picked Duke to win it all, then you're still feeling pretty good.

We're heading into the final stretch of March! We've been tracking, learning, and picking up insights that actually make diabetes easier, which, let's be honest, doesn't happen often.

Today, we're talking about how to keep the momentum going and make sure all this tracking effort actually sticks.

The hardest part? Actually looking at what we wrote down and doing something with it.

It's like watching game tape after a basketball game.

We can see where we made great plays (good insulin timing, solid food choices).

We can also see where we tripped over our own feet (forgot to pre-bolus, underestimated carbs).

This whole month hasn't just been about logging numbers, it's been about figuring out our best game plan.

Now that we have actual data on how our blood sugars respond, what do we do with it?

Step 1: Identify One or Two Patterns to Keep an Eye On Maybe we saw that certain meals need more insulin upfront. Or maybe we realized we're more insulin-resistant in the mornings. Whatever it is, focus on just one or two things moving forward.

Step 2: Don't Feel Like You Have to Track Forever We don't need to log everything, every day. But if things start getting off track, we can track for a few days and adjust.

Step 3: Trust That We Know More Than We Did in February We're not just guessing anymore. This challenge has helped us build instincts that will make diabetes management easier long-term.

Tracking was never the goal, the goal was learning.

And we've done that. Big time.

We've taken a full-court press approach to learning how our diabetes actually works. We've made adjustments that most people never even think about. And we've set ourselves up for an easier April.

Because we're not doing a bad job, we're doing a difficult job.

A huge thank you to Risely Health! We've partnered together to give you a free One Sheet Journal, the exact tool that's helped so many people (myself included).

Week 7

17 - March 24

This is the script as read on the mic, lightly tidied for reading. Education, not medical advice. Talk to your care team before you change anything about your insulin.
